For the betterplace lab, we took on the design of the interactive digital guide “Gemeinsam wirksam – Leitfaden Kollaboration” (Together Effective – Collaboration Guide).” Our task included typesetting, layout, and graphic design, ensuring that the depth of the project’s content was supported by an accessible, visually appealing, and clear design.

Background and objectives

Collaboration is a key skill in today’s world: social challenges such as climate change, disinformation, and social inequality can only be overcome by bringing together many different perspectives. This interactive guide aims to provide insights, guidance, and practical tools for effective collaboration across organizational and sectoral boundaries.

The guide brings together the research and practical experience of the betterplace labs team and aims to encourage actors from civil society, politics, business, and academia to create collaborative spaces where innovation, diversity, and systemic change are possible.

Design

Our design work focused on a clear—yet playful—and interactive layout that not only conveys the content but also brings it to life. The following aspects were important to us:

  • A clear grid ensures readability.

  • Color accents and graphic elements structure the content and facilitate navigation.

  • Graphical presentation of the factors for successful collaboration makes complex knowledge easily accessible.

  • Interactive features such as the clickable table of contents promote orientation and invite deeper engagement.
